Junior Prize-giving Assembly

We are busy getting ready for our Junior Prize-giving which will be held on Friday 12th of December at 9am in the hall.  We will be performing a special song at the assembly and it would be fantastic if you could help your child learn the words at home.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Junior Athletics

On Wednesday 19th of November we had the Junior School Athletics day.  We were so lucky with the beautiful weather and in the morning we took part in lots of fun activities like the egg and spoon race, high jump and long jump.  In the afternoon we had the sprinting competition.  We all had a go and did our best.  In Room 9 we had four children who placed within the top three in the finals.  We are very proud of you Katherine, Tyran, Dayton and Ashleigh.

Buddy Reading with younger students

In Room 9 we have worked very hard all year to become confident and expressive readers.

We have been sharing our skills and knowledge with some Year One students; listening to them read and helping them with learning their words.

Here are some photos of us being amazing buddies.

I am reading my book to Manuel.  Alec
I am helping Paige sound out words in her book.  Amy

Using the Ipad to enhance our learning

video
In Room 9 we have been learning to use Ipads to record each other and our learning.  At our Junior Assembly on Friday Amy and Alec each had an Ipad and did an amazing job of videoing some important parts of the assembly.  Here is one of the videos they took.

Well done Amy and Alec!!

Calendar Art

We have been very busy this week making our calendar art.  We used the African landscape as our motivation and some of the wonderful animals who live there.  First we practised drawing our background.  You should ask us what a horizon line is.  When we were happy with our background we copied it onto our special calendar paper.  Next it was time to create our amazing animals to go on our background.  We used newspaper and vivids to make our animals and finished our art by pasting them onto our backgrounds.

We are very proud of our art. You are welcome to come in and have a look at your child's work.  It is displayed just inside Room 9's door.  You will be able to order a calendar from Monday.

Soccer skills

On Wednesday morning we were lucky because we got to go out onto the field and learn some soccer skills.  We started off by learning how to dribble a soccer ball and move around a space without bumping into other people.  Then we played some games.  We really enjoyed the game when we got to pretend we were sharks.
